installation points
The front arms of the Rack Frame mount to the upper 2 existing bolts on the windshield bracket on each side of the windshield. Simply remove the bolts and then thread them back in through the Rack Frames mounting arm.
The Rear Arms of the Rack Frame mount directly to the rear body panel. You will need to drill two holes on each side of your wrangler for installation. Once your holes are drilled, thread your mounting bolts through the rear rack frame mounting arm and through the holes. Attach the supplied brace for added support and tighten your nuts.
The Basket assembly mounts directly to the rack frame.
Construction
Our award-winning rack systems are constructed of 1½ inch tubular steel with solid-weld construction for durability and strength. With a black marine powder-coat finish to withstand the elements, rubber saddle dampeners to eliminate rack rattle between the rack frame and the detachable cargo basket, quick-release spin knobs to lock the basket down and gas-powered shocks to hold the basket in the upright position when it is open, the 2008 Wild Boar Cargo Rack system is the ultimate in rack design and functionality.
Our Cargo Rack systems feature a low profile design. The rack design hugs the lines of the wrangler while only adding 7 inches to the overall height off of the hard top (6 inches from the highest point of the soft top). The removable cargo basket contributes 3.5 inches to that number.
parts & installation hardware
All of our cargo racks include the rack frame, detachable basket, and all assembly and installation hardware. We also provide silicone for weatherproofing all of the joints and fittings and touch-up paint for the minor dings and scratches you will acquire over time. If you find you are missing or have damaged a part, please contact us for replacement hardware. While it may seem like a good idea to shop at the local hardware store, our parts are specifically designed for your cargo rack.
Adjusting Your Top
Jeep© owners have long recognized that the problem with traditional cargo rack designs has always been how to adjust or change the top after installing a cargo rack. This has been a particularly vexing problem for owners of soft tops. Roof mounted cargo racks are not an option for soft top owners and body mounted cargo racks often require either partial rack disassembly or soft top strut support disassembly to remove the soft top.
Wild Boar’s quick-release, tilting basket allows for the full range of soft top adjustments; no more jumping through hoops just to take your top down. Simply unlock the two spinner knob controls and the gas powered shocks help tilt the basket up and out of the way. Adjust your soft top and push the basket down in place and lock the spin knobs and you are done.
Hard top adjustments are just as convenient. Wild Boar’s Cargo Rack design allows all standard and aftermarket hard tops to slide through the back of the rack frame unhindered. If you have a Jeep© Freedom top, or a Wild Boar Fastback Hard Top, there is ample clearance below the cargo basket for you to adjust your over-head panels. And you can always tilt the basket up and out of the way for even more room.
Optional Canopy
Wild Boar's patent-pending rack design offers even more utility. The quick-release tilting basket opens a full 180 degrees to accommodate an optional Wild Boar Canopy Accessory. 2007 model cargo racks for the JK 2-door tilt the basket to the rear of the vehicle while all of the new ’08 models for both 2-door and 4-door Wrangler TJ and JK models tilt the basket to the passenger side of the vehicle.

Optional Bungee Style Cargo Net
Once you load up your cargo, it is imperative that you secure it properly. We have found that bungee style cargo nets are the ideal solution. They stretch to secure most cargo and hook to the upper bar of the cargo basket with ease. Bungee style cargo nets are also easy to remove. You won’t go hunting for scissors to cut the twine ever again.
Optional Cargo Pads & Straps
Cargo Pads and Cargo Straps are also available to help you get the most out of your cargo rack system. Most cargo feature a groove in the pad design that fits right onto the basket bars. Cargo straps can come in handy when not only to secure larger cargo, but also when lifting your cargo basket. Tie one on the lifting edge before opening the basket and you will have an easy time pulling the basket back into position.
Optional Light Mounting Tabs
Many Rack owners opt to add lights to their cargo rack system. We offer Adjustable Cargo Rack Light Mounting Tabs that fit all standard rack lighting solutions. If you are going to install rack lighting, make sure to secure the lighting to the rack frame, not the basket (there are some light systems that are an exception to this rule). If you want a clean look to your lighting with the wiring hidden, you will need to drill guide holes and thread your wiring harness through the rack frame. Make sure to seal the holes with silicon after the installation to prevent moisture from entering the interior of the rack frame.
Optional front arm extensions
For Wrangler owners who have a need to fold down the front windshield, we can provide you with longer front arms for your cargo rack system. The Extended Frame Arms for the cargo rack frame mount to the lower 2 existing bolts on the windshield bracket on each side of the windshield. You will notice more rack vibration with the longer arms so we recommend you only use them if you must lower your front windshield.
Optional Cargo Ladder
Our Wild Boar Cargo Ladder is designed to clamp directly to the cargo baskets and rest against your rear tire, providing easy access to your cargo. The ladder can be attached to either side of our cargo racks and stowed directly on the cargo basket in the lockdown position or removed when not in use. When you need to access cargo you will be glad you have one.

Mounting COmpatibility & Accessories
Our rack systems are compatible with a variety of Hi-Lift, Thule, Yakima, and AutoHome clamp & mounting systems. Wild Boar offers a full range of rack accessories including lighting, camper-tops, canopies, rack pads, straps and cargo nets to help you get the most from your Cargo Rack.
